Mother Earth Mother...

Well, this is definitely one of the coolest shoots I have ever done in the studio! Diana Bort, owner of Homebirthvideos.org and Sage Femme came up with an idea for her upcoming book... She wanted to combine the idea of the "Mother" with "Mother Earth". The idea evolved into having Julia, a painter and long time friend, paint our earth onto a pregnant belly and for me to photograph the belly. Julia did some research to find a non-toxic, completely safe way to paint onto Amy's soon-to-be son.
The ladies all came over to the studio in San Francisco on an overcast day. The massive windows all open to let in beautiful soft light. The mood was energetic, excited and fantastic!

Here, Julia starts with a blue base. Our earth covered mostly with water.. The Mother sat patiently, completely fascinated with the whole process.

Julia worked with in my studio so we could be ready on the set when she was done painting. The light was soft and cool, just the way it should have been!
We loved working together and had such a fun time, we thought we would document our success at creating our own mother earth!
After Julia finished painting, I moved our mother, Amy, to the backdrop set up in the studio. She was so excited and had such a good time posing with her belly! I stayed within the ideas that we talked about for the book, but also went my own direction!

I loved working with this beautiful woman and beautiful belly.

The sun came out for a moment to say hi.. and I could not let that moment get away from me! I moved her to the right spot to get this very cool spot light on her belly.
This was one of the last photos that I took as you can see the paint cracking on her belly. It seemed to simulate a topographical map!
Thank you so much to Diana, Julia and Amy for making this shoot such a success! I am so happy to share these beautiful pregnant belly photos and am very lucky to have had this opportunity.

A Very Special Bike Ride!

Wow! This was definetly the most spontaneous and action packed wedding I have ever photographed! Samantha and Jason decided to get married on the beach in San Francisco. Not wanting to "make a big deal" or plan too much they decided to do what they love! They organized a few close friends and family to join them for a very special bike ride through golden gate park ending at Ocean beach for thier ceremony! Bride and Groom were laughing together and smiling the whole ride!

Look around people, babies are coming!!

I am so lucky to see the most beautiful pregnant mommas! This beautiful momma-to-be came from San Jose with her supportive and lovely husband. We talked before the shoot about their ideas to really get exactly what they wanted from their shoot.

She said to me after the shoot, "The pictures are amazing. You did everything I wanted and more and Chris and I absolutely LOVE them!! We planned on passing out the one with the blocks to family for Christmas, but my family loves so many of them that they are asking for copies of 5 or 6. I'm so happy that you made pregnancy look so beautiful and I must say in these pictures you made it look sexy : )"
Wahoo!! I love, love, love the love!!

Helen and Brian Get Married!

Helen and Brian had their ceremony at the beautiful Berkeley botanical gardens under the redwood trees. It was a hot day in Berkeley, but under those trees, we were in heaven! Spots of sun gleamed through the branches onto the bride during the ceremony! Soulflower Floral Design provided the sassy bouquets!

The guests made their way to the Brazil Room for a lovely reception! Brian's mom designed and produced the unique centerpieces to represent the bride and grooms love of nature!
